Com watchdog studying Burger King’s answer on data collection
MOSCOW, Jul 13 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has received a response from a local branch of U.S. fast food chain Burger King to its inquiry on possible collection of personal data of Russians by the restaurant’s mobile application, an authority spokesperson told PRIME late on Thursday.
“It’s true that the communications service has received from firm Burger Rus a response as of July 12. It is being considered by specialists of the federal service,” the spokesperson said.
Social networks posted on Wednesday that Burger King’s mobile application records video from screens of Russian users of the service. The application could catch banking data, among others.
A Burger King spokesperson said earlier that the company does not collect personal data of users, and information of their behavior in the application does not contain any banking data with all transactions secured.
